In addition to the consumption watches, Cartier also master another field: the grand complication watches. As you can see, Cartier has a bunches of complication watches, such as simple Tank series, Santos, Astrotourbillon skeleton watches, Tank MC skeleton watches, tourbillon watches, watches with minute repeater or perpetual calendar. In the 2015 SIHH, Cartier rolled out a real grand watch that combines tourbillon, minute repeater and perpetual calendar together in a tiny space. This is the Rotonde de Cartier 9406 MC complication watch.
The case is made of platinum and it is 45mm * 12.6 mm. Within it is a 9406 MC movement. On the front side, it is a tourbillon that is visible to you, and three small counters of perpetual calendar that are around the gong. Dial, well, we barely call it the dial, presents all its major components before us, and that’s what our interest is. The dial on Rotonde de Cartier, although it is complicated, has a good reading, as the sub-counter is highlighted by the blue hand. The back side of it also reveals all it leverages and a minute repeater watches is visible. As you can expect it, careful polishing, chamfering, cotes de Geneva, and manual-made detail is everywhere. This is a complicated watch with complicated crafts. In a nutshell, this is the best movement we have. The surprise is the mini-rotor that makes it thinner. The movement, even though it reaches only 5.49mm, is still a little bit thick. As we know, minute repeater watches would sound better with a good gong, so Rotonde de Cartier has a great gong in it.
At your wrist, Rotonde de Cartier complication watch is not easy to wear it as it has a big size and is complicated. But as Rotonde de Cartier has a short lug, the big case would still feel better.
